This is my contribution to Scott’s Assignment 23: Winter. We were calling for snow, and when I woke up this morning I was so glad Winter is finally here. Winter means ice and sleet in our area.

In case you have not noticed, the white stuff on the ground is snow. 🙂

Actually we had more ice, our deck was covered with ice. We had black ice on the roads and it was treacherous this morning going to work. I was driving 35 mph on a 45 mph speed limit.

Lee and Max was skating on the deck.

Lee didn’t have school today and when she heard she was jumping for joy. This is the typical Winter in our area, the ice and snow melt by noontime.

There is seldom any ‘jumping for joy’ at my house when there is a snowfall. The driveway is long and requires quite a bit of labor to clear. However, I do recall how happy I was as a child to have a ‘snow day’ with no classes to attend.
We didn’t have any snow last year so it was excited to see anything stick at all. 🙂
Lee is having fun on the deck. 🙂
I used to remember skating on our frozen lawn when heading off to school in the early morning. That was about as much “snow” we would ever get in California.
cn, frozen lawn is normal for us this time of the year. We used to get heavy snow at least once a year but it doesn’t look like it this year.
So now the frost also came to your place – nice photos of Lee 🙂
Thanks Truels, it was just a tease. I would love to have one good snow fall this year.
Love the photos of Lee. I guess it doesn’t take much in the way of snow to get school cancelled down there, huh? 😉
You seem to have a colourful Winter, I love the pictures of the trees and of course of Lee jumping of joy !
Thanks Isa, the ivy and Leeland cypress trees do add greenery to wintry backyard.
Thanks Karen, they cancelled school because of the snow but sadly there weren’t any snow for them to play with. They have a snow makeup day in February.
Glad to see you got a little snow, lets hope you get enough for Lee to make a snowman. 🙂 Otherwise I´m willing to exchange weather with you. Nice winter photos, Ginger.
Hi Giiid, I would love to have your Wintry weather for a week, not sure if I could handle the shorter daylight for the whole Winter months.
Our winter is here is most bleak at times lovely. I have been fortunate to take long walks amidst the snow and have posted photos on my other blog. If I have not said happy New Year, than it is stated now. Be well and happy!
Thanks Seule, and Happy New Year to you and your family. It has been a while since I walked in the snow, hope we will get a good one this year.
[…] Some days I think I would like to have a winter like Nye does in the mid-Atlantic area of the United States. The snow and ice show up overnight, close schools and melt away by lunch time. […]
