Weekend Random Photos

Since the time changed, it’s completely dark when I get home so working in the garden is a weekend chore for me.  From the look of these banana trees, we have had several frosts in the last 2 weeks and I should have brought them inside sooner.

I guess it’s better late than never, this one is still very young and it will be good for next year’s planting.

The Ginkgo tree leaves are turning yellow. On a technical note, I should have increased my ISO here since I was shooting at 1/6 of a second handheld. I’m surprised it wasn’t more blurry than this.

I do love the colors of the young autumn blaze maple tree.

I took these pictures late in the evening and the colors look so odd but that’s what they looked like this evening in my garden.

This is what’s left after the harvest.  The pepper crops are beautiful this year but it was a big disappointment since they are not hot at all.

I saw a canvas review from SLRlounge and thought I would give CG Pro Prints a try.  This is my first time printing my image on canvas, and I sent one of my images that I took from my trip to Laos. I got my print back on Friday and was so happy with the quality, sitting on my fireplace mantel is a canvas print size 32″ x 48″ of Wat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang Laos. I will definitely print from them again, here is CG Pro Prints’ link.

  1. That print of Wat Xieng Thong on canvas is beautiful. I might have to request one from you, or you can email me the photo and I can send it in to CG. A nice family photo would be another good one to have on canvas. Thanks for sharing:))

    • PaNoy, if you like the print of Wat Xieng Thong I can reprint for you, just let me know. The quality came out as sharp as my small image. Now I have to look for a place that make good print.

  2. So now you have autumn too, and frost! Here it’s so dark and cold most of the days – but today was clear and sunny. Lovely!
And lovely – is your print too 🙂

    • Thanks Truels, I was very happy with the print quality, not sure how it would turn out at first since I took the image 4 years ago and knew very little about photography back then.

I can’t believe it’s the middle of November and it’s getting very cold at night and early morning.

  3. Glad to see the banana tree has a little young one left behind. A bit of a legacy left behind. 🙂

Your ginkgo looks very pretty, like a tree with golden fans. And the Wat Xieng Thong photo is beautiful. CG Pro Prints did a great job too.

    • cn, too bad the weather here is not warm enough where they could survive all year round. I’m glad for the little one, less work and doesn’t take up much room in the garage. The ginkgo leaves are pretty, but I can’t say the same with the fruits, they are stink to high heaven.

I’m glad I printed Wat Xieng Thong, it brought back a lot of memory for me. I do missed Laos.

  4. Time is near for winter. Heavy frosts up here the last week or so. Look for a cold snap after Thanksgiving.

I will check into the canvas printing company. I have a few photos which would look great on canvas.

    • Scott, I hope the winter is mild for us this year, last year was great but not for those that wanted to see the snow.

I used a coupon code “SLRCANVAS” for an additional $10 off, this is good for 16×20 prints or larger until 12/10/12.

  5. That last picture, is that Wat Xiengthong in Luangprabang? Did you took the picture yourself? What kind of finish is that???

Oops, I should of read some of the comments first before asking.. ahhahahah

    • Hi see, yes, it’s Wat Xiengthong in LP. it’s one of the pictures that I took in Laos in November 2008. The canvas print is real nice, my oldest sister came to my house this week and saw it, she asked me to reprint 3 prints for her. Since she lives in NYC, I asked CG Pro Prints to ship it directly to her, and hope she will get it by the time she gets home next week.
