Jack Dempsey Fry 9 Week Old

The Jack Dempsey Fry are growing at a faster rate since Bo’s been feeding them brine shrimps.  The last part of the video shows Bo feeding the Jack Dempsey Fry brine shrimps.  I think they love it, it is organic and good for them.

I notice that some Fry are bigger than others.  I guess it is survival of the fittest in the aquarium minus all the predators in the real lake environment.  I think the bigger ones are about .75 inch long. They are still too small to leave the aquarium, I’m guessing that it might be 2 more months before he can give them away or selling them.

  1. Amazing how fast they are growing!
A small additional question to Carsten’s: How many are there now – compared to when they were hatched?

  2. Hi Carsten and truels, I haven’t made an attempt to count them yet, so far only a few died during the first 3 weeks. My dad and sister only saw them on my blog until last Saturday when they came over to visit and they thought the Fry looked a lot small than what they saw on my blog. It’s relaxing to watch them swim around, and they don’t seem to get tired of exploring the small aquarium.

    1. Cambree, it seems like some of them have a growth spurt. Bo had to change them to a bigger tank the other day because the old one was leaking and I think they will grow faster now since they have more room. It’s relaxing to watch them schooling around.
