It looks like it is snowing in the aquarium, the tiny particles are food for Fry. Bo bought the Hikari First Bites, and the ingredients are Fish meal, wheat flour, krill meal, soybean meal, brewers dried yeast, dried seaweed meal, rice brand, garlic, …calcium iodate. A lot of the ingredients sound like it could pass for human food.

The Fry are 6 week old, and some are bigger than others. They come in various shades from dark to light color.

These are lighter in color.

I’ve not seen the second batch of Fry that recently hatched. The mother and father Jack Dempsey are hiding and hopefully the Fry are in a nearby nest.

That fish food does sound like human food. So that’s a good sign. I’ve been eating lots of dried seaweed these days.
I wonder if the larger ones are male and small ones female. Guess it’s hard to tell even when they are grown and in the same tank. 😉
Cambree, I think the large and small has to do with the feeding, I guess some are picky eaters than others. 🙂 I don’t think you could tell when they are this little, but Bo seems to think that the darker ones are female and lighter ones are male.
I wonder how big (cm.?) they are now? And how many they are now – are they all surviving? In the same tank?
Hi truels, I think they are about 0.4 cm long. Most survive so far and he had several that died at the very beginning. They are all in the same tank (30 gallon) and since there are so many of them Bo has to change the water and clean the filter almost daily. It is a lot of work for him but I think he enjoys caring for them.
