Travel Camper Trailer Shopping

We’ve been doing some research on the Internet prior to going to an RV place. I like something a little retro. The Airstream Sport 16′ Bambi looks real nice but very pricey and I don’t think we have any dealer nearby that sell this.

It was a beautiful day and we all packed in Bo’s SUV to a dealer that is less than 10 miles from my dad’s house. My dad visited this place earlier in the week, I guess they were serious about buying.

We started out looking for a 16 feet camper.

The inside is very small.  It would be perfect for a family of 3 or 4 but it is too small for us since we have 5 people.  There’s me, Bo, Lee, my dad, and sister that will go camping together.

We ended up with the 2012 Travel Trailer Keystone Summerland 1890.

It is a 24 feet camper, a lot more roomier and can sleeps up to 6-8 people.

I didn’t have that much time to take picture since everyone were waiting. The door opens to the living room and kitchen.  The sofa is the sofa bed.

The dining room table turns into a bed.

The kitchen has all that we would need for camping.

The bathroom has a separate shower stall.

And sink outside.

The bedroom has 2 beds, Lee already picked the top bunk bed. The bottom bed is a full size and can sleep 2 people comfortably.

My sister Bee also came along.  Bo and my dad will pickup the camper on Monday. We went in with my dad and sister to purchase this camper and looking forward to our future camping trips together.

Right now we plan to tow with my sister’s truck,  and perhaps someday we might be able to get something a little bit bigger when we have a better towing vehicle. I saw one  camper in the showroom that is real nice, I can actually live in this RV. The most expensive thing about traveling are boarding and meal expenses and with our own traveling trailer we can afford to go places more often.

  1. Wow!! You guys sure are serious about this now. I heard the best time to buy these campers are during winter time because most places are looking to push out older models. RV is too much work for me.

    • seeharhed, most place would give you a good deal since they want to make the sales. It’s a lot of work and Bo now has to think about getting a new vehicle to haul this. It looks like my sister Toyota Tacoma will not be able to do the job. I don’t think this is for you, perhaps when you have a family with a few children. 🙂

  2. The Airstream Bambi is really cute, but so expensive. The one you guys got looks really comfy for the whole family.

I’m also looking forward to more photos of your trip. Btw, where will you park it?

I would love to get a Eurovan, even a nice used one would be fine. It would be easy to just drive out to the beach or mountains and camp out even for the weekends.

    • Cambree, I guess the Airstream Bambi is more of a luxury camping, I would love to own one but can’t afford it. We are very happy with the one we got, and this will save us a lot on the hotel bill also. Being able to do more and paying less is a total freedom imo. We couldn’t park the camper at our house, I’m sure the home owner association will not allow and our backyard is too small also. We have several options, my boss owns a boating storage and I could probably get a good deal on it or pay for storage at the campground or ask to park at someone’s backyard.

The Eurovan is nice for traveling. I have seen where people would put a small fridge in a Dodge van, and convert the back to fit a bed. I would love to do cross country, but not sure if I could take several weeks off from work.

  3. I’m glad you have many options to park it. 🙂 And the best part is saving on hotels. And also save on eating out because you can prepare your own meals in the kitchen.

The Eurovan is cool that I should do my own post about it soon!

    • Cambree, a change of scenery is good for the body, mind and soul. My dad feels funny about the hotel, he always complaints about the air condition hitting his face, no worries now. It’s like a comfort of your own home. 🙂
