McAdenville Christmas Town USA

I couldn’t believe that we have a Christmas Town USA close by, I decided to keep the original sounds in the video instead of replacing it with the holiday music.

McAdenville is a small textile town, with several plants located in town, and several on the outskirts.   The plants operate 24 hours a day, with the night shift changing at 10 pm. We decided to visit during the weekday since traffic wouldn’t be so bad because I’ve heard that you could get stuck 2 hours in traffic on the weekend. We parked our car across from this waterfall and walked around, it was freezing cold.

Every town has Main Street, this one is at the intersection of Wesleyan Drive and Main Street.

The next two pictures I couldn’t decide which to post, same location but different composition.

The mailman must be extremely busy during this holiday season. Either the house is tilted or my camera is tilted.

    1. Thanks Jeffrey, it was so cold that we didn’t get to walk around as much as I like to. I hope to take my sister from NYC to see next week.

  1. These night pictures are really good Nye. The fountain in the water is beautiful.
It is something I’ll have to try. Then you could try shooting them in RAW. The RAW format opens the possibility to working with the white balance after the shooting instead of having to choose on location.

    1. Thanks Carsten, I need to give that a try, I hope processing the image is not too difficult. It was so cold that night and I didn’t try with a different f/stop, I think f/11 and f/16 might come out good as well.

    2. Wow that place is pretty. I like the photo of the water fountain too.

This looks like a great place to hang out with the family and enjoy the holiday season. And it’s not that far of a drive too.

      1. Cambree, we took my sister there last night and the traffic was over 2 hours but we thought that we saw the sign on the HWY that said that the lights closes at 11Pm, and by the time we got near the town it was shortly after 9:30pm and the cops directed all the cars towards the HWY. My sisters and dad didn’t get to see, I guess we just went there to spend some quality time in the car. 🙂

  2. Amazing photos Nye! You’ve improved so much with your photos since when you first stared! Congrats!!! LOve the sharpness of your photos even at night!!

    1. mozemoua, thanks. I still have so much to learn and I want to start shooting with RAW next, I might have to learn photoshop first. I’ve been trying to avoid it, and it might be time to learn the trick of the trade.
