Saturday Random Photos

It’s kind of odd to see the seagulls Ring-billed  Gulls at a shopping mall when we are miles away from any lake and not to mention the ocean. They are a few that perched on top of the street lamp post.

And hanging out by the parking lot.

I’ve never seen one this close before, one great thing about a zoom lens. It’s interesting that the beak has a black marking on it.

We usually visit my dad on Saturday, and my sister Bee of Bee’s Design is making some Christmas decorations. This one is a velvet rose for Lee.

Lee loved them.

Bee was making bows for a church for their Christmas poinsettias, 100 red bows to be exact and she still has a long way to go.

Her tools of trade are wire cutter and scissor.

Sticks and ribbons

She has many helpers, but I can’t say that my niece (picture below) and Lee has been a good helper.

Bee had made a leather handbag for me a while back and I loved it.  She started making handbags now, this is one of her favorites and it was perfect for Halloween, I guess for Christmas also if you are a scrooge.

Manual, EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, f/4, 1/4sec, ISO 200, focal length 40mm, evaluative metering

It’s a real eye catching.

This is a church that I passed on the way home, Lee was afraid of the passerby cars noises and the dark so I had to hurry and only got this shot.

And I finally hung my mom’s Christmas memorial ornament. The golden ornament has the year 2007 written on the back and it sits on the angel’s lap. Have you ever wondered why most angels don’t have a face? This one doesn’t have a face either, but she sure is beautiful.

I have to give all the credit to Bo, he is an excellent shopper and most of these gifts will be delivered in the next day or so.

  1. That is a very handsome gull. I think it’s called a Ring-billed Gull.

It was fun to spend a Saturday trotting along beside you while you tended to all the holiday preparations. It all looks very festive.

    • Thanks Gerry for the name, I updated my post. It’s very odd to see them at the strip mall, and this made me think of the one at the beach where seagulls are flying everywhere, or perhaps they are also the Ring-Billed Gulls that I saw.

It’s a relaxing day for us, not a lot to do except visiting and hanging out at my dad. 🙂

  2. So many interesting photos in one post. The leather handbag is so funny, so creative made. And a very sweet photo of Lee in the sunshine. Christmas is more fun having children around.

    • Hi giiid, I think Christmas has to be the favorite holiday for most children, Lee loves the holiday and Santa bringing her toys.

I asked my sister why she didn’t make him smile and she said she tried to mold his face and that’s the only expression that he would give, must be Bah! 🙂

  3. That leather purse is definitely unique with green eyes and all. And I just love Lee’s velvet roses too. Auntie Bee is very crafty & creative!

The girls are adorable, these photos are perfect for capturing such sweet moment. 🙂

    • Hi Cambree, my goal is to capture their pictures growing up, and they love to be around Auntie Bee, I guess it’s because she makes them neat stuff all the time. My sister Bee used to own a flower shop so she is very crafty when it comes to something like this.

  4. That is a nice long series Nye. It is interesting seeing what Christmas looks like in other parts of the World.
I think The Boss has played three times ‘Santa’ now. Or is it four??

    • Hi Carsten, I think most families get together on Christmas eve to exchange gifts. Christmas is too commercialized in the US, they start them earlier and earlier every year so it’s hard not to get into the spirit. 🙂

  5. Great post, Nye! You show so many things here of your life here before Christmas. That leather bag is amazing! And i love your photos of the girls 🙂

  6. I love the handbag! It’s a little creepy but still awesome! And it looks like you guys are ready for the holidays 🙂 Just looking at your photos is getting me excited for Christmas and the New Year!

  7. Ilove your mom’s memorial ornament!!! I sure do hope one of those gifts under the tree is mine! J/k… I’ve yet to wrap all the presents..

    • mozemoua, all my sisters have one each, and my dad has the red original one.

Your gift is not under the tree, I have it especially made for you. 🙂

  8. […] made their way to her company’s catalog featuring in the talents section. If you recalled I blogged about this face handbag back in December. Canon T2i, EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, Manual, f/5.6, 1/25sec, ISO 800, focal […]
