Special Gifts for Lee

It has been almost 4 years since I started blogging and I’ve met some wonderful people along the way.  Lee received a package yesterday, she opened it before I got home since it was addressed to her and she absolutely loved what she saw.  She thought it was a Chinese outfit, I corrected her that it’s a Hmong outfit and perfect for her to wear to the upcoming Hmong New Year celebration on Thanksgiving weekend.

The package is a gift from Mozemoua, my Hmong blogger’s friend.  She did an excellent job in putting the outfit together, and Lee’s favorite piece is the hat. The design is very modern in my opinion, and beautiful workmanship on this piece.  I didn’t realize that I placed the hat upside down, I will retake the picture of the hat tonight.

Updated: 11/14/2010, sorry about the picture earlier, I retake the first and second picture, the hat is positioned correctly now. I need to get a white blouse for inside and also white Hmong skirt for Lee to wear with this outfit. There is an Asian store called Tida that might carry this.

My favorite piece is the apron, the cross stitch patterns are so beautiful and lots of work has been poured into this.  I wanted to make my own handbag and tried on several occasions to no avail. It was a lot harder than I thought and finally gave up. Mozemoua will put up a tutorial video at her blog and I’m looking forward to learning how to cross stitch from her.

I love the detail, this has to be the labor of love handcrafted with care.

This birthday has been very special to Lee, Cambree has also made her a chocolate and Sea Salt handmade soap, Lee used it all before I had a chance to take a picture of it.  Here is a picture from Cambree’s Etsy online store.

She was also kind enough to send me her new soap as a gift, a French Clay & Carrot Essential Oil now on sale at her Etsy store.  I’m a huge fan of her homemade soap, Cambree handcrafted it herself and selects natural ingredients that are good for your skin.

Thank you both for Lee’s gifts. 🙂

  1. Nye I am so glad Lee loves it!!! I’ll be sure to put up the tutorial by next week before the New Year during Thanksgiving. I am heading out to my aunts house so we can wear our Hmong clothes for today’s Hmong New Year so I will try to capture the tutorial today. I hope the hat fix Lee!!!! Not sure if it was just how the picture was taken, but the hat in the photo is upside down. The red thingys are on top and the cross stitch is the waistband.

    • Ze, must be upside down, I didn’t know but I will take a picture of it again tonight when I get home. Looks pretty though. 🙂

I’m glad I didn’t let Lee wore the outfit to take the picture, not sure which is the front or back of the top. 🙂

      • Nye, I had emailed you the address and phone number to a Hmong store a few miles from your house. I’ve been to that Hmong store twice already and I know for sure they’ll have a good selection to pick from. Also bring Lee along so she can pick the dress she wants.

I cannot wait to see Lee wear the outfit for the New Year!!!

  2. I like to see some pictures of your little girl wearing it! 😀 Laying it out looks beautiful already, but i wish to see your little girl wear it! It’ll look so stunning on her! 😀

    • Hi EmmerTT, I still have to get the white blouse and white skirt, and not sure how to wear it yet. I’m waiting for Ze to give me instruction, it’s my bad not even knowing the top of the hat. I should have checked her post again before taking the picture.

  3. How exciting it is for Lee to receive such neat gifts. My soap really doesn’t compare to this beautiful outfit. But I am always happy to see children using one of my soaps. 🙂

The cross stitching on the apron is beautiful. I can see how the vibrant colors of this outfit will bring lots of cheers and smile.

    • Cambree, Lee was excited to have received your gift, she was showing Na on Saturday the picture of the soap that she received from you. Kids don’t view things the way we do, but as an adult I think it’s the thought that count. 🙂

Ze did a great job with the apron, something that I need to learn so I could make my own Hmong handbag. 🙂
