Food

Saturday Random Photos

This post should really be Carolina BalloonFest but I guess certain things are not meant to be. I planned to attend the event at 7 this morning, had all my camera gear ready the night before.  I’m not sure if it was food poisoning but I got real sick and was up all night. I felt better by 7 am but by then I didn’t have the energy to drag myself out of bed. I promised my dad and sisters that I would make spring rolls for them today, and here they are. It was a task getting it done when you’re not feeling too well.

Lee had her birthday cupcakes at my dad’s house.

After we ate dinner, we thought we could still make it to the night event of hot air balloon glow.  We drove by the Statesville Airport and weren’t allowed to go in because the parking was fulled.  We drove to a nearby farm and saw several cars parked there, we did the same hoping to catch a glimpse of the balloons.

I had my camera facing the direction of the airport, the night sky looked promising and we could hear the music from the festival and by now there were about 15 cars parking with us.

I kept looking for the moon, it was a clear sky but moonless.  Then I saw a bright light shining through the trees, I wasn’t sure if it was the moon rising at first.  I guess I’ve never seen one this low before, it almost touched the ground.

By 7:15 pm (19:15), no sigh that they would be releasing the hot air balloon glow so we decided to head back to my dad’s house. The moon had rise above the tallest tree by then.

The night sky is not as cleared tonight, but it is a full moon for us and the moon has an orange glow around it.

  1. Hope you’re feeling OK now.
The spring rolls look great. The sky and moon photos are magnificent. And Lee has her cup cakes too. So now I know that all is OK in the world…..

    Have a nice day, Boonie

    1. Hi Boonie, it has been a busy weekend and I really didn’t have time to be sick. I’m glad that I didn’t stay in bed the whole day and missed out all the fun. 🙂

  2. If I was in the same situation as you, I’ll probably still be in bed :-). Forget about the egg rolls and the rest of schedule of that day.

    BTW, nice pictures..

    1. seeharhed, I didn’t want to let other people down, letting myself down was bad enough. It was hard getting up early on Sunday morning to go to the temple also, the pain pill seemed to help. It would be nice to be able to stay in bed.

  3. Hi Nye,
That is a bummer! But glad to see you still had the energy to make the spring rolls. And also share birthday cupcakes with Lee too.

Hopefully the balloon festival will be back next year. 🙂

    1. Cambree, it’s an annual event, so better planning on my part next year. I might have to go camp out there the night before. 🙂

  4. Darn!! i wish I could had sent the stuff in time for Lee’s birthday… I am working on sending them, but I will get them sent to you before the ny…
