Organic Eggs

Chicken update August 29, 2010 and it’s about 22 weeks.  Just the week before that the hens were laying 12 eggs per day and last week they were laying 20 eggs per day.  We picked up 3 trays of fresh eggs on Sunday and gave 2 trays to my dad, I’m sure he is enjoying the fresh eggs by now. Bo’s mom has a total of 40 hens, so we’re looking at 40 eggs per day in the near future.

So it’s not blue eggs after all, but Bo’s Americana hens lay green eggs.

  1. Nothing beats eggs from your own chooks. At least you know what you are feeding them. The lady that used to work for me in my kitchen feed them all my restaurant’s food scrap, including spices, chilies, curry pastes! And, her chicken eggs were the best eggs I have ever tasted – probably from all the chili spices! 🙂

    1. Victor, I would be afraid to feed them spicy food but I guess it works. I’ve heard feeding food scrap to ducks and pigs before and often wonder how their stomach took it, I guess just like human then. 🙂
