Water Lilies at Biltmore August 21, 2010

It was an overcast day on Saturday, and this might be a good thing to photograph water lilies.  They are as pretty as ever, here are the photos.

This was taken with a Canon T2i, Aperture Priority, f/20, 1/10sec, ISO-100, Exposure bias 0, focal length 80mm, pattern metering mode, white balance cloudy, closeup cropped

Aperture Priority, f/5.6, 1/60sec, ISO-100, Exposure bias 0, focal length 50mm, pattern metering mode, white balance cloudy

Aperture Priority, f/5.6, 1/250sec, ISO-100, Exposure bias 0, focal length 105mm, pattern metering mode, white balance cloudy

This plant looks very much like rice pods.

Not a strange looking water lily, I know a green frog 🙂

And then it started to rain around 1:30 pm (13:30).

  1. Wow!!! Can you email me some of these pictures? Really nice…I’ll add them to my screensaver. Thanks.

  2. Nye, this was very enjoyable. My daughter’s Native American spirit name is “Nabagashquay” which means water lily in Ojibway. (We are not native, but live in the middle of a native reservation.) Your flowers are beautifully photographed. (love the frog in the middle of it, too!)

    • Kathy, thanks for sharing your story, your daughter has a lovely name. Photographing flowers, plants and animals make me happy, I’m beginning to think that I’m kind of odd. 🙂
