We used to go to the beach every summer, but since my mom passed away that has changed and we’ve been visiting her monument instead. This year we decided to stop by Virginia Beach on the way back since it’s only 3 hours from Wat Lao Buddhavong. We didn’t have any reservation and pretty much took our chance since it was right on July 4th and most hotels were booked months in advance. We must have asked about 6 or 7 hotels before we found this one, they had several rooms available. July 4th week is the peak season in our area and it was $259 per night for oceanfront room, we got lucky that the rooms were on the 6th floor and a perfect spot to watch the fireworks.
We got there late Sunday and the beach was crowded with people, many were there for the fireworks.
Unlike Myrtle Beach in South Carolina that we went last year, this one has a board walk. In a sense we are still city folks and find this welcoming, I missed walking on the sidewalk in New York City.
I’m not surprised to see beach-bump since the hotels are so expensive.
I do love the sound and smell of the ocean.
And sunrise is absolutely beautiful.
