My Garden in Early April

My Fall crops finally take off, after harvesting these I’ll be planting cucumbers in its place.

A nice area to sit and relax, my Vietnamese neighbor gave me some water plant.

Lee’s strawberries are doing well.Β  It doesn’t look like we would have to go too far to pick strawberries this year.

Lee’s Rose garden, she has many rows of strawberry and marigold.

My early spring crops, I’m just waiting for the weather to get warmer before I start planting Thai/Lao Eggplants, Chili peppers, and cherry tomatoes here.

I have plenty of mint.

The blueberry plant is doing well, I’m thinking about getting more since they don’t take up too much space, and can be pruned.

Last year I had problem with my String Bean area, the land is sloped and the rains washed all the dirt from the bean stalks. I had several options, and one being raised bed but this would take a lot of dirt, and have to buy lumbers also.Β  I had some empty coffee containers from work and also containers from the rose bushes, and this would be a perfect solution for me. I cut out the bottom and buried it into the ground, and now all I have to do is to drop String Bean seeds.

My seedlings start to come up.

  1. I started a little (flower) garden infront of the house, but its been a week, I haven’t done much with it.. Maybe yours will keep my motivated once I find the time.

    • mozemoua, I do little by little, but the hardest part is the summer, the mosquitoes are a pain in my area. I have to find a way to protect myself this year.

  2. Your garden photos are very inspiring, I will make a plan for my own now! The weather is warmer at your place, wich mean thet I still have time to think.

We often thought about making a small greenhouse, this might be a good idea to make this year.

It is told, that making ones own vegetables are very modern to do here, these years. The reason is a growing will to reduce cost and energy (for transportation). Also making ones own compost is now “in”, like making energy from sun and wind. A constantly daily talk about reducing energy is beginning to show results.

    • giiid, I find that gardening is very relaxing and a great way to spend your time outdoor, and not to mention the fruits of our labor. I would love to have a green house also, would be nice to house the tropical plants during the cold winter months. Please do blog about it if you decided to build one.

Last year I was very new at this, but now I can truly call myself a gardener. πŸ™‚

  3. Oh wow, you make me want to have a garden too, after seeing your beautiful garden πŸ™‚ I can’t have one because I’m living in an apartment and my life have to be only school and work 😦

You are so creative, Nye πŸ˜€

    • pnlis, thanks. Since I have a small area to work with, I’ve to come up with a way to utilize the small space. So far it’s working pretty good. Once you’re done with your schooling, maybe you’ll have time for gardening then, as for now enjoy my garden. πŸ™‚

I also update my dad’s garden on a regular basis, so far he has not plant anything yet.
