It's my normal routine to check on my garden as soon as I get home, and today is no exception, I picked some fresh vegetables for my dinner. Then I saw this little guy hiding behind the mint. I've never seen anything like this before so I ran inside to get my camera. Of course,… Continue reading Buds and Blooms
This sums up our road trip to Biltmore Estate for the Tulips Flower Festival, sorry no photo for this one.
Updated April 25, 2010. My dad started his garden about a week ago, and he didn't finish planting everything yet, some are still sitting in his window sill. I bought him some pickle and white cucumber plants from the local nursery. He grew this from last year's crop, the Thai/Lao eggplant and he gave some… Continue reading My Dad’s Garden
OneRepublic - All Fall Down I finally have most of my vegetables planted, including the banana trees that you see here. They are calling for rain in the next couple of days, this will help the young plants. It is sitting back and relax for Lee. Her strawberry plants are doing very well. They are… Continue reading Planting Season
It would be a dream come true to have a pond this size. In fact, just one of the ponds at Biltmore is almost as big as my whole backyard. This is too early for the waterlily, but there are several Koi fish and school of small fish. Music by Anakwad Native American Flute with… Continue reading Waterlily Pond at Biltmore
I've seen a Killdeer at Na's house before and she would make a chirping noise to distract us from her nest, so I knew right away that her nest is nearby. When we got closer, she stood near her eggs and didn't try to use a "broken wing act" like most Killdeer to distract us… Continue reading Killdeer Bird
I can't imagine Bo's mom waiting for these Americana chicken peeps to lay blue eggs, and Bo had the same thought, so he went out and bought her 5 laying hens. I'm not sure if all five were pure Americana breed because not all lay blue eggs. It's very light pale blue, so far his… Continue reading I’m Chicken Out!
On Saturday we visited the River Bend Farm at Biltmore Estate, and they have some funky looking hens. I'm not sure if she could see where she is going. I did a video of this one, she sounds like she is nesting, otherwise she is try to tell me to get out of her hen… Continue reading Chickens at River Bend Farm
Lao New Year was on April 14-16 and since it was during the work week, the celebration at our local temple was on Sunday April 18, 2010. We had a good turnout this year and the weather was exceptionally nice. We pour water over Buddha images for blessing and cleansing the rust from our soul.… Continue reading Pee Mai at Wat Greensboro North Carolina 2010
We went to Biltmore yesterday to see the tulips and it was perfect timing. I took some photos and did a video, I hope you will enjoy.
I thought that was a rather large baby Robin when I saw her 2 days ago, but it was the mother Robin nesting her eggs. Bo said that there are 4 eggs in there, I only saw 2, and 4 is a strange number because I had only seen 3 eggs in the past. This… Continue reading Nesting Robin
Bo spotted a baby robin mommy Robin today, I'm sure there are 3 in there. The nest is at the same bush as last year, but it has gotten a lot taller this year. While I was taking some pictures, the mother Robin was nearby.
