2010 US Census

I posted about the 2010 US Census earlier, and the survey is coming your way.Ā  If your are Laotian, on number 9, please mark on “Other Asian” and write down Laotian and perhaps by the next US census, we will have Laotian printed on there.

If you’re a fan of Boon Vong like myself, you might recognize that some of his photos are incorporated in the Lao PSA video.

  1. this the first I saw an annoucment like this for lao people that is so great I will definitely write “laotian” on my form thanks for the post

    1. lady0fdarkness, it will be delivered between March 15 and March 17, 2010, in areas where the United States Postal Service delivers the census forms for the Census Bureau. Census Bureau workers will deliver forms between March 1 and April 30, 2010, in all other areas. Source.

  2. Spread the words ladies! The census will be coming your way soon! Help your friends and family fill it out. LANA worked extremely hard on the video. It took all day to film the video. Also, thanks to Boon Vong for his wonderful photos. Many people put a lot of efforts in translating the info into Lao. Visit us at our new website to find out more about LANA and our advocacy at:

    1. Thanks Laotian Teacher, this video is very helpful to those that don’t like to read, and you guys did a great job. Were you involved in the video shooting process? I didn’t see any name credits at the end.

  3. Nye, I was not involved in the shooting process. Noi, the CEO of LANA was. He also worked on the script for it. The rest of the board members and I gave our input. Our main concern is to get Laotian to fill out the census. Our board members across the country are tiredlessly working on setting up the Q& A center in their communities to help Laotians who has a question about the census. We all need to do our part and fill out the census. Thank you for posting and spreading the word.

    1. Laotian Teacher, great campaign that the LANA are doing, it looks like the video is going around many Lao blogs and websites. I hope to see more of their work, thanks. šŸ™‚

  4. I went onto the website and was very surprised to see that Hmong has their own page and language and etc. I had just received our forms about two days ago, but I had been sick so I haven’t filled it out yet, will do so later since I am home sick (but feeling much better now)

    1. mozemoua, my dad got his about a week and a half ago and I helped him fill it out, but we have not got ours yet. I wonder if it got lost in the mail, I certainly don’t want them to visit us at home.

I was surprised to see the Lao language there also, I guess we have come a long way. šŸ™‚
