Jae Danupol Kaewkarn

One of my favorite Thai singers is Jae Danupol Kaewkarn, I first heard of his song from a friend of a family that visited Thailand in the 80s and she brought back his cassette. I first heard of it in her car, and immediately fell in love with his voice, so she gave me his cassette (I also fell in love with her car, she had a Toyota back then, but that didn’t work), then I started collecting all his cassettes. What is a cassette? It seems that it’s ancient and useless now, I still have two shelves full, I used to collect Thai music in the late 80s and 90s, I invested lots of money, and now it’s practically obsolete. Here are some of my favorite songs from his album Dee TiSud.

  1. Nye Ginger, the top 2 are also my favorites.
I have a cassette collection of him as well plus the group Grand Ex.
Some reason I thought he sang for that group too. I had 3 copypaper box worth of tapes. Just sitting in my closet for over a decade.

I’ve recently beginning to covert them to MP3 format. Previously I had it record on Minidisc.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Dallas, maybe he was a part of Grand Ex before [youtube], but the band that played the musical instruments for him became a band called Ploy, and released 2 albums (I think) with the help of Jae, I have their cassettes, then one of the singers from the band became a solo artist, Tik Shiro [Click here to watch youtube], made a name for himself, he is an actor now, I’m not sure if producer for Thai Lakorn as well.

I also like GrandEx. 🙂 I’ve one of their cassette, I don’t think Jae sings in this collection.

  3. I was asked to translate the song ‘Dok Mai Hai Koun (Flowers for you)‘ by a friend, I like to share this with everyone, it’s a very beautiful song,

Dok Mai Hai Koun (Flowers for you)

I want to give the flowers from the garden for everyone out there.
No matter where you live, near or far as the edge of the sky.
I want to give you hope, like a flower that first blooms, full of life and radiant.

Showing you support and stand by your side.
Showing you support and stand by your side.
    Offering that I’m proposed.

The golden ray of the sun, not a sign of despair, but as flame that burns for eternity.
As the river that flows and gives life to the forest.
As the sky that stands the test of time.

The golden ray of the sun, not a sign of despair, but as flame that burns for eternity.
As the river that flows and gives life to the forest.
As the sky that stands the test of time.

I want to give you the flowers from the garden, for everyone to enjoy the aroma.
I Hope that everything that you wish for will come true.
All the sadness fade and disappear, and take a step forward while we’re still living, live life to the fullest.

Showing you support and stand by your side.

  6. I was searching and found your website, which gave me a big smile. Hearing Jae’s songs brought back many great memories of when my husband and I first met. My mother just sent back one of his CD, but I am trying to track down this song, Lae Lail (Things will happend). Do you know the CD it is on? I use to have the cassette, but lost it. I know he did this song in english as well.

    Appreciate the help,
    Thank you,
    Tou
