Have you ever want to be a kid again? Actually we all can if we want to and it’s not that hard to do at all. Many psychologists called this Play Therapy, and this will help you control your emotion better. It also helps you to become more creative and more imaginative. Us adult tend to be too serious about everything, and if we can think like little kid, it will be great. I remember when I was little, I used to think that the sky is the limit, and anything is possible. This way of thinking also alleviates stress. If you don’t know what to play, I have some suggestions for you and if you can’t remember the rules, then just ask a kid, he/she can help you out.
Hula-hoop – go ahead and march into the store and buy yourself a hula hoop, for a guy this might not be so cool, so buy yourself a jump rope. BTW, it’s a great way to exercise.
Play Instrument – many people want to learn musical instrument as a kid, whether it’s a piano, guitar, violin, or drum. I’m speaking from my own personal experience that musical instrument growing up was considered a luxury and not a necessarily for our family. I personally don’t blame my parents for not being able to afford to pay for my music lesson or buy me a musical instrument because feeding all of us was their priority and more important than music lessons. If you have the itch and dream to learn as a kid, then it is not too late, age should not be an obstacle, I don’t care if you are older than dirt, don’t let another day goes by, live your dream today. If music is not your thing, then drawing or writing.
Ask your friends to come out and play – when we were little, our parents wouldn’t let us go and play with our friends and some of us might sneak out anyway, I know my sisters did. When we got caught and got punished, didn’t we used to get upset and thought that us kid can’t do anything? Well, you can do that now; can you still remember the rules for some of those games? If not, just ask a little kid, they might even play with you, whether it’s tag, hide and seek or telling ghost stories.
Dance the night away – if you’re more formal then take ballroom dancing, otherwise you can just turn on loud music and dance around. If you don’t know how to dance, jumping around should do, IMO, there’s no right or wrong way to dance as long as your body is moving, you are dancing.
Form your own sport team – did you ever play in a little league as a kid? You can do that as an adult and I bet you that it’s more fun. Whether it’s tennis, basketball, soccer, football, or baseball. This is also a great way to exercise. I know Laotian people like to play soccer, round up some of your friends to form a team today.
Go places that children go – even if you don’t have little kid, who said that you can’t go to those places. Okay, so I heard from a guy before that he does not like circus, and circus might not be for everyone. There are other places that kids go to such as amusement park, zoo, or Water Park. You can visit those places and become a kid again; you can if you want to.
I know I might have left out many activities that kids do and if you want to add on to the list, then I’m happy to know more. Try it, I do it all the time and not ashame to admit, sometimes I think being able to think like little kid make us see things that we might otherwise missed. The beauty of the world is seeing it through a child’s eyes.
Happy New Year to All. 🙂
