Lee was a punk rock zombie this year, I think.

On our side of the neighborhood there was not a lot of excitement.   There are many of our neighbors that decorated their houses for Halloween.

On the other side of the neighborhood they went all out.  This one below was an entrance to a house.

As you walked through the vampire gate, then you come to this house.  It’s like Christmas for the kids, I think the decorations made it so much fun and festive for the kids.

And this was going down the street, the monster standing on the left hand side jumped out to scare passerby.

Lee had so much fun, I hope everyone had a good Halloween.  I noticed that people gave out fewer candies this year, Lee went to almost every doors and got a small bag of candies.  I think they must have handed out 1 or 2 candies per kid, and not a handful like before.

It has been a while since I last updated my Dad’s garden. I took a set of pictures every weekend that I was there, but never had the opportunity to update it. My sister planted some Fall vegetables this year.  As you can see these were taken on October 9th, and I’ve been guilty of not posting them sooner. I was there early and saw a beautiful sunrise and by the time I ran back inside to get my camera most of the reddish orange morning sky were gone.

The lemongrass are no longer in the garden, my dad took them inside the garage last week. My sister was so glad that she planted a Fall Garden this year, and the vegetables are so easy to care for.  She occasionally has to water her garden since we have been getting a good rain.

The vegetables have grown since then, and a few romaine lettuces were harvested. This is what the garden looked like yesterday evening.

It is amazing to see how much they have grown in just 3 weeks.

The weather is getting cooler and the streets will soon be buzzing with tricker treaters, ghost and goblins.

This neighbor went all out this year.  He has been doing this every year and it gets bigger and bigger each year.  We had an early sneak peak of his garage haunted trail and I posted some pictures on my October Idioms Photo Hunt. There are all kinds of tricks and treats inside and he has hired his nephew to scare the kids.

It was real dark inside and I had to bump my ISO up to 6400 so lots of digital noise and some blurry images, it’s a nice effect for inside a haunted trail in my opinion. He invited us back tonight for a grand opening, then tomorrow night is the big event.  It is going to be trick or treating!

He has a nice scary Halloween sounds and lighting effects.

If you were to ask Lee she would probably tell you that it is not too scary inside.  She was trying to fight ghost and goblins on her way out.

Photographing Idiom is Greek to me, but I‘m sure I‘m not the only one.  We might be all in the same boat for all I know, and here is my contribution to Karma’s October Photo Hunt.  My first idiom is hit the hay meaning to go to bed. Back in the days mattresses used to be stuffed with hay or straw, so when one was hitting the hay they were on their way to bed. I saw this dog at the temple sleeping on a straw like mat while the monks were chanting.

I have been preaching to Lee that money doesn’t grow on tree, and she was surprised to see that it does grow on tree at the temple.

I believe this is a Chinese idiom, to beat the drum and sound the gong.  It is to order an advance or retreat, to egg people on or to call them back.

Last Saturday was Lee’s 10th birthday party.  This image is perfect for the idiom icing on the cake, meaning when you already have it good and get something on top of what you already have.

Last but not least, I think this image speaks for itself. Max is in the doghouse.

Bonus Halloween images, one of my dad’s neighbors gave us a sneak peek tour of his garage haunted trail. This one is a skeleton in the closet.

Lee came face to face with a robotic skeleton ghost.

And we saw this on our way back. I keep an eye on him the whole time while taking this picture and thank goodness he didn’t smile for the camera.  I hope you have a safe and happy Halloween.

We seems to have more and more traveler trick or treaters where their parents would take them from neighborhood to neighborhood to trick or treat.  It’s still very festive in our neighborhood, most gave out candies but not in large quantities like the previous years.  Lee came home with fewer candies than the previous years.

Bo dressed up as a clown, might look very scary to some.  Hey, it’s supposed to be Halloween.

My neighbor’s dog, all dressed up.  He went trick or treat with us but had to be carried after walking for about a block.

Instead of flying like a normal witch, Lee ran from house to house to trick or treat. I hope everyone had a safe Halloween.

We also attended the Kathin ceremony at our local temple today and will post photos and video when I have more time.
