I’ve been learning how to knit a hat using circular needles. I made 3 hats prior to this one but they didn’t turn out as good.  I forgot to take a picture of it while it was on the circular needles, and had switched to double pointed needles to close the top in the photos below.

I would never thought that I could knit and glad that didn’t give up at the very beginning.  I can knit a lot faster now and was surprised to see the beautiful pattern after it was knitted into a hat.

Lee couldn’t model for me this time and it fits a little snug on Bo.  I think Lee will like it.

This is my contribution to Karma’s When I Feel Like It Blog’s February’s Photo Hunt. The deadline was yesterday and I hope a day late is okay since we have 1 extra day this month.

Flake, we were fortunate enough to get some snow this month on February the 19th, it couldn’t have come in a better time.

Bow, I had to go into my photo archive for this one.  This picture was taken December 25, 2010 at Disney Magic Kingdom’s evening parade.

Mug, I didn’t try to go into a neighborhood to get mugged, and I think my camera would be the first to go so instead I took a picture of my coffee mug this morning. I know it is not as exciting as an image of me getting mugged.

Row, my sister germinates her seeds for spring planting.  She  has the seeds in each bowl wrapped in wet paper towel and labeled them in Lao language.

Bun, I have a Lao bun image here, also know as Kao Thom Mud.  Mud means to tie and not the mud in the English language.  Kao Thom Mud is a Lao dessert steamed sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves and tied with a rope.

I think Chinese Moon Cake could pass for a Chinese bun. It was good by the way. :)

Karma said to look for heart shapes in unusual places. Lee posed one for the assignment.

Bonus: leap – in honor of ”leap day” at the end of this month. I’ve  been fascinating with Natsumi Hayashi’s self portrait photography of her levitation at yowayowa camera woman diary.  It looks to me like she is flying and she is not Photoshopping her images either but she takes images of herself jumping up until she gets the right pose and composition that she is looking for.  This could be as many as hundreds of jumping up and down.

As for today’s levitation Lee agreed to levitate for me. It is not the exact shot that I was looking for, but I made her jump one time too many and this is my image in honor of a leap day February 29, 2012.

I heard early this morning in the news that we might get some snow. I kept thinking to myself that I have to see it to believe it.  And someone must have heard me complaint yesterday that Winter flew by and was kind enough to sprinkle some white snow in our area (whisper “not enough though, Lee won’t be able to test out her snowboarder.”)

But it is certainly enough for me to photograph the snow.

I bet you can’t guess what this is.

I was supposed to work in my garden today but it rained all day, then it snowed.  We probably got about 1 inch of snow, I guess it is better than nothing.

The weather has been mild this year, and sadly no snow yet and I don’t expect us to get any this Winter. My garden has been neglected during the winter months and it is time to clear out the dead leaves and start planting an early Spring vegetables.

The Rosemary bush that I planted last spring has gotten a lot bigger.

The first sign of Spring in my front yard, and I have seen many Spring flowers sprouting and blooming around the neighborhood.

Ornamental cabbage

The broccoli is doing well and I’m thinking about moving the grapes and plant the broccoli along the fence area. I think the broccoli does well all year round because I have seen it survived during the hot and humid Summer months in Grandma’s garden.

My Brussels sprouts on the other hand look more like a tall cabbage. It is not doing well at all and it’s time to give up on it.

I was so hoping to see the sprouts but I guess I don’t have the right climate/soil condition to plant this.

It is also Crape Myrtle pruning time and Bo pruned them yesterday. We live in the city limit and the city sanitation truck will come and pick this up on a trash pickup day.

I received this cutting from a fellow blogger as a gift last year by mail and it has grown new leaves since then.  I’m planning to change the pot since it has outgrown this one.

This is the orchid that my sister Bee gave me last year for doing income  tax return for her.  It is that time of the year again, and I can’t say I’m look forward to it.

As for the snow, I think Lee’s present must have jinxed it.  She received a snowboarder as a Christmas present and it has been leaning against her bedroom door since.
