It’s kind of odd to take a medical leave from blogging, and in my case it might be several weeks before I could start blogging again. It started out as I thought was a severe heart burn last year, but in reality they were gallstones attacks and the severity of it got worse. I was told that the procedure is simple and I would be back on my feet in no time.

I will miss visiting your blog posts and also doing my Saturday Random Photos post the most. But don’t worry, I’ll be back in no time, after all I’m in good hands.

It has been raining here lately and it’s actually good for the plants and air, with everything blooming we do have high pollen counts and hopefully this will wash all the pollen dust in the air. My dad has a chance to use his fireplace also.

And for dinner we had Summer rolls. The spicy peanut sauce gave me a terrible heart burn, I have to remember to eat less spicy next time.

It’s easy to prepare the summer rolls, and the mints and parsley were from my dad’s garden. I cooked the thin sliced pork, and wrapped with the rice paper sheets.

After watching the news last night, it’s so sad to see what harm the natural disaster can do, and not to mention what is still in the air. Please do help the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund if you can.

I’m glad I don’t work for a CPA firm, otherwise it wouldn’t be a Spring season at my house but more like a Tax season. If you haven’t filed your 2010 taxes, you still have time and surprisingly some of my co-workers didn’t know that you can still make a deductible retirement contribution such as a traditional IRA contribution to the 2010 tax year. The deadline is April 18th and you can count this towards last year’s tax return. I didn’t make any contribution to my 401K at work this year, so this is a good alternative for me.
I’m not sure what processed me to stop by this place to take a picture after work, perhaps it’s the spring flower tree.

I pass this neighborhood everyday and if I were to tell my cousins in Laos that not everyone living in America lives in a big house, I wonder if they would believe me.

Learning is different also, this year Lee started learning the multiplication table. I recalled that we had to recite the multiplication table every morning before class, repetition seems to work for us growing up in Thailand. As for Lee, her teacher takes a different approach and the students have to sing the multiplication songs. I guess learning could be fun, and the only drawback is that the student would be singing in class while taking the test.

I’ve been sick in the last few days and I haven’t been working in my garden much. I think the chance of me seeing my broccoli growing is next to none, someone has been in my garden.

I’m glad that my peach tree survived the winter months. It produced several fruits last year but none stick. This year doesn’t look too promising either since there are only a few blooms on the tree.

I finally got my own orchid. This one was given to me by my sister Bee, well sort of give. I did an Income Tax return for her and she gave me this orchid as a token of her appreciation, not that I expect anything from her. I’m glad that she gave it to me because I’ve been wanting one but didn’t have the heart to buy.
