I was at my dad’s yesterday and he had a full house, and watching the little ones playing Hula-hoop made me think back of my childhood memories.

I’m not sure who had more fun, me watching them or them playing, the laughter is definitely in the air. I think there must be a special technique in playing this, look at their hands positions and facial expressions.

While I was there, I took some pictures of my dad’s garden. My dad looks real good for someone to be in his mid 70s, he was covering his Banana trees area with grass clippings.

My second sister’s Koi fish, talking about big mouth.

I was good at this before. I can even work it on my neck or even on my calves, haha! Well you can play it in many ways.
Does your hula have ball bearings inside the hollow so that it make noises. These add extra visual interest and motion as the twirler spins the hoop.

K.noizki, you are really good at it, I just know the basic. These belong to my second sister and she only has 2 and they make some noises but not a lot, she uses them to exercise, so the 3 kids took turns and they weren’t very happy about it. I should get some more because I have nieces and nephews coming to visit us in a couple of weeks and this would be fun for them to play.

Wow! those banana trees are looking really nice. Your dad looks pretty buff up for a guy at his age. Was he into body builder/weight lifter when he was young?

Hi seeharhed, my dad is thin and looks very young for his age, and only has few grays. He walks twice a day and works in his garden. He used to be a cop in Laos, but other than that he doesn’t lift weight or anything like it, and he is in great health. I think when we take care of our body, it takes care of us.

Dear Nye, I loved the hula hoop but now I would end up at the orthopaedic drs.! Dad is doing wonders again with the garden. How proud you must be and all those cute kids visiting-your mom is proud and happy too. Luv, A

Audrey, kind of hard to picture you playing the hula hoop.
My dad seems happy, especially with some of us doing more in our garden this year. We’ll have our family reunion in a couple of weeks, then off to visit my mom’s monument, I’m looking forward to that.

Ginger, i could never holahoop, i could never get it to stay long enough. LOL Ahh childhoodmemories, I’ll see if I can trace any of them while i am on vaca!! It’ll be nice to be a kid again, but then again, when we were younger we just couldn’t wait to get older and now that we are older, we wish we were kids again!!
