I think the first time I saw the Dogwood Trees in bloom was when I first moved here over 10 years ago, and my mom fell in love with it so she bought several trees to plant, and they didn’t make it, but strangely they seem to be doing exceptionally well in the wild.

There are many at my local temple.

These are down the road from my dad’s house.

They also come in pink.

Hi Aodto, it’s nice here, but not a lot to do like big city, but I think I like the country more.
I recently visited Laos and Thailand, so the chance of me visiting again is not anytime soon. I think it’d be nice to visit during Songkran, must be lots of fun playing the water festival.

I’m currently in Thailand, and the Sonkran festival was so quite due to the political crisis in Thailand capital. As I know about you that you like to write about Thai and Lao culture and lifestyle, so do you know about the conflict inside Thailand about the political disagreement between the parties, politicians and the grassroot people????
I was wondering that if you like to write about this situtation as well, it would be nice to reat it….:)
anyways, do you have a facebook or hi5???…please add me!!!!
my hi5 link is http://autoib.hi5.com

Aodto, yes, I’m well aware of the situation, I was stranded at the BKK airport on November 26, 2008, but I don’t like to write about the situation or politics in Thailand or Laos, there is not a lot of positive things to write about and I rather stay away from the negativity, I think there is enough negative things in the world, there is no need for me to add my two cents into the pool.
Sorry, I don’t have a Hi5 nor Facebook, I’m not a fan of social network site.

I love dogwood trees. I’ve never seen the white ones, just pink… they have such neat petals.
It’s funny how I’m usually the few people that stop and admire them around here. I guess the city folks don’t have time to stop and smell the flowers. JK.
These photos remind me of John Denver’s song, “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Nice song too.

Salat, I’d have to listen to that song driving down the road now.
Pink is not very popular in this area, but white is everywhere in the woods, and it makes me think that’s how it got its name, dogwood. It is true, I didn’t notice the trees or flowers whilst living in the city, may be it’s because there are far in between, all I see was concrete jungle.

so that’s what they’re called! I love these trees. I see them along the roads with pretty colors. I even tried to snap a photo with my camera one time, but it came out blurry. They remind me of cherry blossoms….

lady0fdarkness, at first I didn’t know that they called it a flower tree because the petals then turn leafy green, but it’s real pretty closeup. I also like cherry blossoms, they’re in bloom at my dad’s yard right now.
